Oh how I have missed football season. I absolutely love it! We took the whole set up for Game On Events and had a spectacular day!

I was so lucky to be able to attend my sweet nephews' first birthday party. A couple of weeks ago my Sister-in-Law asked if I could make some cupcake toppers with the boys names on them. Of course, I got a little carried away. I started brainstorming about cute party ideas and I just kept going. Good thing my SIL and I work so well together, we were able to combine all of our ideas and come up with a pretty darn cute party! I had fun working on all of the graphic designs (finally making good use of my Adobe creative suite) and she, my mom, and me made a day of putting all of the favors, banners, and decorations together. The party went perfectly and I was so glad to be a part of it!
It has been interesting and I have been learning the ropes with the help of some veteran crafters that I have been meeting.

My debut event was called "Pig on the Pond" and it is a local BBQ competition here in Clermont. So the "pig" part of the title is the BBQ and the "pond" is actually a lake (the next lake up the chain of lakes from "our" lake).

The weather on Friday night was horrible and there were 16mph winds coming right off the lake making the wind chill about 40 degrees. No fun at all since the event was from 5pm-10pm. Plus part of the event is a huge carnival with rides and games so it was teeny-bopper High School night. Needless to say the crowd was not interested in baby wipes cases, burp cloths, and taggy blankets. We did get quite an entertaining show of all that Clermont teenagers have to offer. The best (or worst) was the girls who were running around in short shorts and tank-tops as I am shivering in my wool boots, jeans, and huge fuzzy coat. It was ridiculous. I guess looking "cute" trumps physical discomfort for 16 year olds. Not this lady! It is comfort all the way! But I still looked cute in my boots, jeans, and coat anyway so whatever!

Saturday was much better! Sunshine, no wind, lots of young families - a much more condusive atmosphere for a successful day for a baby gift booth! The day went well and I pulled out my best sales woman personality! My Sister-in-Law and her family even came and helped for several hours. It was a great day to hang out, meet some people, drum up some interest in Coco Lemon and sell some cute baby gifts!

It was a Wing Fest and Craft Show and it was only a few hours in the morning. It was mildly successful and again we met some nice people! Plus it was a few town over and the drive was very pretty so I can't complain about that!

Finally this past weekend I did a three day event at the local winery here in Clermont. This was more of an established crowd of crafters and my display needed to be bumped up a bit so I added some curtains and tried to make my tent look a little fancier than the general pop up that it is. Most people had the tall white tents with the fully enclosed sides. I will work up to that but for my third event ever I think I did pretty good! Again I met some awesome people and everyone is very encouraging. The lady whose tent was right next door to mine was also next door to me at Pig on the Pond, strangely enough. She was super nice and was my biggest cheerleader. She kept telling anyone with babies that they needed to check out my booth and would brag about how nice my stuff was. I really appreciated all of the encouragement! It was a nice weekend and again I was able to generate a good deal of interest in the company.

So that is what I have been doing. The weekends have been full with events and the weeks are spent replenishing inventory and getting ready for the next show! I also have been updating Etsy with new items so be sure to check it out! Now I am brainstorming on some things that I could add to the line that could appeal to everyone, not just new mothers. I am thinking iPad covers, camera straps, and several other options.

Any ideas? I would like to use most of the same fabric so that I can utilize odd cuts after I get the wipes case and burp cloth pieces cut out.Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-1217983895077064552011-01-17T15:18:00.000-05:002011-01-17T15:18:07.319-05:00Bring the RainI love a good rainstorm. It was one of the things I missed the most when I lived in Vegas. I good hard rainstorm, complete with thunder and lightening.

However, my dogs do not share in my sentiment.

They think the Thunder is a personal attack on them. An attack that needs to be answered with full out outrage and vocal retaliation.

It drives me crazy!

My calming rainstorm has been turned inside out!

What are you going to do though? You can't really reason with a dog and tell them things like you would a child. "Honey, it's just God bowling" doesn't really make K9s feel any better.

So I did the only thing I could do.

I sent them to a time out. They are now taking naps in there "sleepy-time" kennel. They are snuggly with blankets and they seem to have calmed down.

Peace has returned.

I will wake them from their naps soon, but for now Peace.

I know kids aren't any easier but hopefully I will not have any that bark and hopefully they will understand by age 4 or 5 that Thunder is not a personal attack on them.

Hopefully.Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-67816925655179692562010-11-15T08:38:00.000-05:002010-11-15T08:38:50.325-05:00Teenage Dream & Just the way you are - Acapella Cover - Katy Perry - Bru...I am totally blown away by this guy!

I mean seriously!

Do you know what it is?

It is the window ledge above my sink. And those are the foil yogurt lids that my husband so sweetly leaves for me.

Why? Well, because I asked him too. After his morning Activia he rinses off the lids and sets them on the ledge to dry. After a few of them accumulate I collect them up and take them over to my laptop.

I log onto www.cupsofhope.com and enter in the code on the back of the lid. It is the least I can do. For each lid Dannon donates 10cents to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

So from now until 11/30/10 I will be frequenting this site.

Because every little bit helps right? I am not doing the 3day walk or anything nearly as profound but I feel like this is at least one little thing I can do. And I appreciate my husband for helping me by remembering to leave his lids. I also appreciate that my husband wore his pink shirt to work today. He even remembered that it wasn't clean and did a load of laundry at 9pm last night DURING A FOOTBALL GAME! He is trying to get it in the rotation as many times as possible during the month of October which, as you probably know, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I am very proud that he is so thoughtful.

So what are you doing to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

I am sipping a Pumpkin Spice Latte (skim milk, no whip) right now and it is delish!!!

Nothing says Fall like a warm pumpkiny coffee drink.

Okay a few things do. That crisp breeze that keeps rushing in whenever someone opens the door. The guy across the street that is blowing leaves off the sidewalk. The pumpkins on the front porches of the houses in the neighborhood.

I love it!

Fall is my favorite season. Everything from buying school supplies (miss it) to the Thanksgiving dinner. Tie it up in a bow and give it to me please. Love it.

For me there is something fresh and new about Fall. Even more so than Spring. It just seems to waken up the senses. It says "get down to business". After all of the hot lazy days of Summer it is a breath of fresh air! Fresh, cool air. I love breaking out the boots and jackets. Pulling out my Indian corn, my glazed ceramic pumpkins, and my acorn adorned hand towels.

Oh and did I mention the Pumpkin Spice Latte? The glorious PSL!*

The days are getting shorter, the air cooler. The sun is a bright glowing ball of the deepest orange as it sets over the lake behind my house, turning the sky pink and the lake the most beautiful coral color. The windows are being opened and the air conditioner switched off. The environment and my energy bill are both better for it.

Even though I am way too old to do so, I start making a Christmas list. Football is a constant on the weekends (and some weekdays too). Halloween costumes are planned, and the list of all of the things needed to construct said costumes is made. It is a time for getting together with friends and family, watching a game and sitting down to a warm meal. Break out grandma's stuffing recipe cause its on!!!

What about you? What season gets you going?

What do you want for dinner? What's your favorite song? How are you doing today?

and for me this weekend... How do you like Florida?

Now for anyone out there that does not know I lived in Las Vegas for 5+ years and moved to Florida last November.

I was a bridesmaid for one of my good friends this weekend in Las Vegas. I became close with this special friend through the design firm that we both worked for. We worked on a job together for over four years, she being my project manager and I being the Interior Designer on the project. We bonded. She is fabulous. You might remember her from this post where we trained and ran a 1/2 marathon together.

So needless to say there were many friends at this wedding that are former co-workers of mine as well as just friends and acquaintances from my time living in Vegas. And of course the question that I was asked over and over again...

How do you like Florida?

So I tried to answer as honestly as possible.

"You know, it is different" "Its good" "I really enjoy being close to family"

All of it seemed to fall short of being able to clearly explain how I feel about Florida. I do like living in Florida, but I also miss almost everyone that I was speaking to and I was having an inner battle of emotions. I started to get kinda bummed when I thought of them all still working together or at least still working in the Las Vegas fun, fast paced design industry.

Plus this was the first time since moving that I felt decidedly on "the outside". These used to be my peeps! The distance was starting to show.

So anyway that brings me back to another hard question for me. Where is Home? For me Home is always Texas. It took me a long time for Vegas to be Home. And now it was strange leaving Vegas and saying I am going Home to Florida.

I feel like that guy on Sister Wives who doesn't have his own bedroom and just rotates between his 4 wives rooms. (Okay I don't really feel exactly like that but I love that show, so interesting!)

So how do I feel about Florida? I think time has still not answered that question. I feel like there are things to be accomplished, opportunities to be taken advantage of, and friends still to be made. I do like being close to family. I still wish that Dallas was only an hour away so that I could be close to my mom and my brother and his family but, yeah that isn't going to happen. I do miss Las Vegas though. I thought I was so ready to leave but now that I am gone I realize all of the things that I miss.

It was a bittersweet trip. The sweet was this...

The bitter was realizing that Home is a hard to define. That it always isn't one place. That with the people that you used to share everyday conversations you are trying to sum up the last year of your life and it is harder than you ever imagined.

So where do you call Home? Is it hard for you to define?Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-71893276449113790692010-10-12T10:22:00.000-04:002010-10-12T10:22:30.510-04:00GAPIs anyone else profoundly relieved that GAP has realized they made a huge mistake and has decided to go back to their classic logo?

I am!

If you don't know what I am talking about, Gap North America, the often spoofed, yet beloved clothing store, tried to "update" their logo last week. It was less of an update and more of a "we just opened up a Word doc and typed in the word Gap and then added a little blue box with gradient shading". Seriously it looked like it was something out of a basic instruction manual for Windows 2000. Well they announced today, after a huge outcry from upset fans, that they are going back to the classic logo (the tall capital G A P in the navy blue box).

I am so relieved.

Why this tiny mishap in Gap's brand image campaign inspired me to plunk out a post? Well maybe it is just my small way of closing this huge GAP in time since I posted here.

It isn't that nothing interesting has happened in my life the last three months or so. On the contrary there has been lots going on in my life. Vacations on the beach, welcoming my adorable twin nephews into the world, trips to Dallas to help with said nephews (and getting a tiny glimpse of motherhood), football season starting!!!, first cruise ever, anniversaries, birthdays etc.

But along with all of that good stuff going on there has been a lot of uncertainty in my life in the last few months. Not knowing where my life is headed. Worrying about the future (sometimes even just the next day). Wondering if certain decisions we made a year ago were the right decisions. You know grown-up stuff.

I don't know why I haven't written about any of this. I guess I just haven't felt the urge to right it all down play by play. No need to worry about that now. A spade is a spade.

But here I am again!

I am back!

Like the Gap!Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-82970005626614097462010-07-08T16:46:00.000-04:002010-07-08T16:46:31.532-04:00Green thumb anyone?I don't think I have a green thumb. Which is unfortunate because I love plants.

The only plant that I have managed to keep alive for any amount of time was a Mother-in-Law's tongue that lived on my desk for the 5+ years in Las Vegas. I think it liked the pretty much constant fluorescent light.

Which is funny because I pretty much hate fluorescent light.

I left it there in the care of a good friend so hopefully it is still soaking up the fluorescent light and getting the remaining contents of some water bottles from time to time.

Anyway I bought this really cool elephant ear plant and I am not doing to well with it.

I read online (so it must be true) that they need alot of water. Well I am giving it plenty of H2O but I keep losing leaves. They just dry up and droop all of a sudden. It is making me really sad.

Maybe it isn't getting enough light. It is pushed right up to the window sill and all, practically making out with the window, but maybe it isn't enough? I refuse to bust out any fluorescent light bulbs though so I am hoping this is not the problem.

I may resort to singing soon. "May" being the operative word.

I want you to live plant! You are so perfect for the corner of my breakfast room!

What are your favorite house plants. Any good ones that are easy to keep alive? What do you say green thumbs out there. Help a sister out!
Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-11674856826817392012010-07-01T22:41:00.000-04:002010-07-01T22:41:34.380-04:00Summer is slipping awayand that is okay!

I mean it is going good! I am getting used to the downpours in the afternoons. Mostly because I have been cool and dry in my home when they have happened.

That is until today.

That is until I was held hostage in JoAnn's. Usually one of my favorite stores.

But not when I was going on hour 3 of being there!

I was with my darling niece at a super cool craft class. And we were all good for the first two hours. The first two hours were occupied with glueing, wrapping fabric around foam core, decorating a super cool "Memo Board" for her room.

Then the girls even painted some birdhouses. Gratis from JoAnn's because the class ended early and I was the only mom/aunt that stayed with her child, so there was an hour to kill before the other kids were picked up.

I could have left right then. I have a car and a license.

Oh how I should have left right then!!! But no, Miss Reilly wanted to go shopping. She had money burning a hole in her Hannah Montana coin purse. And since I was not in a hurry I said OK!

Big mistake.

Not five minutes into the shopping in the toy/craft aisle did I hear it... the thunder.

I should have said "let's go lady"!

But no, I am new to this rain thing, and I try to be the "cool" aunt, so I didn't pay much attention. Then I heard the drumming. The drumming, droning, very loud sound of rain on a tin box roof!!!

So for the next hour we shopped slowly. Went back to the craft room. Played hang man with the other two girls and the teacher. Watched the dynamic of three 7-8 year old girls, who otherwise did not know each other, play a game. Interaction at this age is interesting. A preclude to teenage years. But less straight forward. Realized that the teacher of the class was 19, which made me feel immediately ancient. It was a long hour. Complete with drumming, droning, sound of rain on a tin roof.

With the constant downpour not letting up at ALL, I decided to purchase an umbrella. A common item in all stores in this part of the country I have found. Thank the Lord.

We made a dash for it. With the help of the very helpful "education manager" to carry the memo board, painted birdhouse and various bags that we had with us. We made it! Wet but, in the car, and on the way HOME!!!

So in conclusion, if you hear the Thunder, and you think you might be able to escape before getting drenched, DO IT. It wasn't horrible, I did not suffer any pain or dismemberment, but it was a lesson to be learned.

Because no matter how much you like a store, being held there against your will for an hour, is still an hour that you keep thinking over and over again...

What else could I be doing right now?Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-68222372721555364442010-06-10T18:35:00.000-04:002010-06-10T18:35:58.168-04:00Set up ShopI just finished setting up my Etsy shop! It was fairly painless.

Check out my shop cocolemon.

First I had to brainstorm on the name. I wanted something chic and stylish but also fresh. So CocoLemon it is! Plus that one wasn't taken as a few of my other combos were. Cocolime for example. Which I am actually glad about because I could not stop singing "You put the lime in da Coconut..." all night last night!

But I like CocoLemon! It is rich and juicy!

Here is a sample of what I am offering in my shop.

They are travel baby wipes cases that I have covered and embellished with hot fabrics and trims. I have seen these at baby boutiques and even purchased one in the past for one of my friends. She asked me if I made the one I gave her at my baby shower. I said no, I didn't, but I probably could. So I decided to make a few for my sister-in-law who is about to have twins. I had such a good time doing it I thought, what the heck, I am going to set up shop!

So I did! I love doing crafty creative things like this. It keeps me inspired! It is therapeutic sometimes. To just get lost it the craft and then voila! you end up with a gorgeous creation!

So this week I did not come down with a wicked cold. I was not out of commission for two days. I did not lay on the couch and refuse to let anyone in the house except for my husband. My sister-in-law did not bring me a very much needed care package with medicine, magazines and orange juice and I did not have her leave it on my front porch. I did not hunker down and pretend I wasn't at home when our neighbors came by to buy our old fridge. Not me.

I did not have a "deadline" on Friday to get some shower decorations done for my brother and sister-in-law's baby shower 5 states away. Never.

I did not set up shop at the kitchen table with my kleenex boxes, hand sanitizer and giant glass of fluids and work through the sickness.
It weighs next to nothing, measures a little over 13" wide and has skin of stainless steel.

Anyone guess yet?

Yes, it is my new Apple Macbook pro! I love it. It is exquisite. The day it arrived on my doorstep I rejoiced. I knew I could give it a happy home and that we would grow to be great friends.

Okay but seriously this thing is awesome. I am having so much fun getting to know the programs and I am super impressed so far. There are so many people that have always sworn by Macs and now I know why. I have hopped over to our HP a couple of times to download files to transfer and I am all disoriented on it now! Funny since I have used that computer every day for like four years!

The packaging was even exquisite. Minimal and crisp.

When I turned it on it was like watching HD television for the first time. All blurry like there is dust on the camera lens.

But this screen is awesome. My pictures look better, movies look better, even this blog looks better! Just kidding. Oh and not that I need to disclose this because I have never been paid for anything that I have written - but no, the huge Apple co. did not pay for this endorsement of their computers! Just thought I would put that out there lest I be attacked by some blog police.

We do not have an extremely sweet pug-mix dog named Hurley. He is not a very loyal dog and he does not follow us around everywhere we go. He is not always by our side watching everything we do from brushing our teeth, to making dinner, to watching TV.

My husband and I did not go over to some friends' house this Saturday night and we did not get home very late in the night. We always come home at a reasonable hour and get to bed at a decent time! My sleepy husband and I did not go about our normal routine of going to bed and locking up the house.

We did not wake up late the next morning. We did not look around and realize that Hurley was no where to be found. This is not extremely unheard of and a strange occurrence in our house. We would not expect something like this from our other dog Roxy who is not more of an independent dog who is not known to sneak off to rooms to sleep all by herself. Roxy was not sitting in our bed acting like nothing was wrong.

We did not hop out of bed and frantically start calling Hurley's name. We did not open all of the doors in the house and we did not find Hurley in our front spare bedroom. He was not chilling on the futon wagging his tail. He did not follow my husband into that room the night before and my husband did not close the door not realizing that Hurley was still inside. We would never lock an animal in a room and not realize it.

We did not feel very guilty. I did not lavish him with attention for the rest of the day because I felt so guilty. He is not a dog and he was not safe and unharmed what-so-ever. He was absolutely not unaffected in any way. But I did not still feel horrible. Nope, I would never treat my dogs like they where actual children. No way. I know that they are not children! I know that Hurley will be fine and will not grow old with feelings of abandonment. Of course not.

Of course.

Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-40100908372631968642010-05-07T12:28:00.000-04:002010-05-07T12:28:53.927-04:00Cinco de My-OH!So I am sitting at the dinner table this Wednesday evening enjoying a delicious and creative meal with my husband. I was a little proud of my new creation for Cinco de Mayo. I had planned out the menu for the week and had Stuffed Bell Peppers on the menu for the evening. But being the ever-festive I wanted to make something Mexican. Opening the fridge and doing a quick assessment I found all the makings to create my wonderful creation.

Mexican Stuffed Bell Peppers! I know the name isn't that creative but I was still proud.

I simply took some leftover taco meat from Monday and substituted it for ground beef in my normal Stuffed Bell Pepper recipe. I also subbed the salsa for the fresh tomatoes. Topped it with some taco sauce and cheddar cheese, whipped up a side of guacamole, and viola! I accomplished my Mexican feast and I was met with praise for my efforts.

So as I was sitting there I thought "I should write a blog about this, but no it isn't really design related, but who cares it is still creative, but I wanted to try and focus the blog more on being about design, but ya' know what? this is me, this is one of the things that I love to do, cook and be creative, break the rules a little, YA I am going to break my own rules and just be more myself in the blog! That is what I am going to do!"

So that was my Cinco de My-OH!

My life is what I want to write about. I think that who I am and all of the different things that I love is a huge part of what makes me a good designer. It is all the aspects of my life combined that fuel my creativity. I am not one dimensional. There are many things that I find inspiration in. So I am going to share all of those things.

Cooking, books, traveling, entertaining, preparing to be a mother someday, and of course design!

So from now on I will not tie myself down to one subject. It just doesn't work for me. I am multi-faceted and I want to share it!

Let me know if you want the recipe that sparked this epiphany!
You really get out of practice. I used to travel, at least for a day trip, once a month or so. Weird. I am having a hard time packing.

Thank goodness for Southwest still letting you take two checked bags with no fee. Dear God tell me that has not changed in the last few days and I haven't heard about it yet.

Just checked - Bags still fly free! Thank you my sweet Dallas based company!

I have picked up a few things along the way that make flying more comfy for me. Here is a list of what is in my carry-on bag (which is pretty much always packed with the basics)

-1 large and snuggly blanket that never leaves the carry-on so it is dog hair free (this was especially important when I traveled for work and I was usually wearing black).
-neck pillow - I prefer the ones with the micro-beads from Brookstone. The cotton filled and (shiver) inflatable ones are just not acceptable. If the pillow is too firm my head ends up being pushed forward and I look like a chicken trying to get comfortable. A neck pillow needs to be soft enough that you can sink back into it but firm enough to offer support.
-ear plugs - a must for drowning out that child with the ill behaved parents who sat behind you.
-good book/magazine - because the emergency reference card can only hold your attention for so long.
-yummy smelling aromatherapy lotion - I sometimes just rub a little right below my nose for a soothing effect. It also helps when some rude person brings stinky food on the plane. Or there is just a stinky person near you. Smell violations are sometimes inevitable so be prepared!

Also essesential for traveling is a light weight jacket that is easily shedded and stuffed away if not needed. Slip on shoes for security line ease. If possible wear socks with those shoes so you don't have to walk on the dirty carpet.

And of course your photo ID. Which for some reason I always panic right when I get to the airport "do I have my license?" It has been ages and ages since I ever went anywhere without my license but I still have this fear that I have gotten all the way to the airport without it.

So what are your traveling secrets? Anything that I can use for my upcoming trip?Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-39684002464033282582010-04-12T11:31:00.000-04:002010-04-12T11:31:13.811-04:00Bentley Brooks DesignThe website is finished!
It has not been raining here in Sunny Florida.

I do not have two small dogs that aren't particularly used to raindrops on there faces, backs, tails...

The smallest of my two dogs, the princess, is not extremely stubborn.

I did not take the dogs out and stand in the rain and demand from them that they go poop. You can not demand that a dog go poop on your command! I did not have a stare down with the princess who is not all of 8 pounds. I do not play mental mind game wars with my dogs. I do not believe that if I repeat my demands that the results will be different. I do not believe that I can stare her down and communicate the importance of her going outside.

My bathroom rug has not been the place of choice for said dog to take care of business if she does not go outside. I am not extremly disgusted and fed up with her using my bathroom rug as a toilet.

SO I have not alternated all day between taking them out and watching her like a psycho hawk. I have not put her in her kennel when I couldn't watch her like a hawk merely for the protection of my bathroom rug.

Nope not me. I would never go to such lengths just to win a mind game with a dog. An 8 pound princess of a dog. Not ever. Not me.
My main focus was the mud-room/laundry room that connects our garage to the kitchen.

Well it is done! And I love it.
A few days ago I did not go to a used book sale with my Sister-in-Law. The book sale was not over and we were not able to get hundreds of books for FREE! We were not there to get books for her book ministry and scooping up as many books as we could. We did not also scoop up lots of great FREE books for ourselves.
My Sister-in-Law and I were not spread out on her living room floor later looking at our loot. We were not divying up the books and deciding what books we were going to send to friends and family. My SIL did not pick up the wedding planning book that I was planning on girfting to my friend who is getting married in October.

My SIL did not start to read a "to do list" that was in the back of the book. One of the items on the to-do list was not "Take cousins to buy shirts, pants, and ties for the wedding. Try to explain why ties are necessary".

I did not burst out into hysterical laughter. She did not continue to read the list until I was crying. We did not make assumtions that this was a red-neck wedding. We did not continue to laugh and make fun of this bride and the ridiculous things on her to-do list. I did not have tears running down my face. I did not go home hours later and notice that I had mascara running down my face.

Nope not me.Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1367465205848526602.post-84511066787912404112010-02-25T09:31:00.001-05:002010-02-27T22:31:51.792-05:00Frogs and Snails...and Puppy Dog Tails!

Why puppy dog tails!!! Even as a child I thought this was a little gruesome sounding. Just the tails? Not the WHOLE PUPPY? Seriously boys are made of Frogs and Snails and bloody hacked off puppy dog tails? SICK!

So I had an over active imagination. Still do I guess.

So on a less horrific note, I have several very close friends and one SIL who are expecting little boys in the near future. I was helping one of them out and researching little boy nursery designs to give a little inspiration. She has great style so I can't wait to see what they end up doing.

I thought I would post my findings for the rest of my friends to see. I was all over the web so I apologize in advance for not giving credit to each photographer or designer and also for not getting links. I really wasn't being very Blog-minded when I was searching.
The Alphabet wall is gorgeous although not easily achievable without the help of a talented professional painter. Even with a more simple pattern on that wall this nursery would be sweet.

What I love about this, besides the totally adorable "laundry line", is the colors! I love the pop of the orange against that perfect shade of aquay blue. I also love the modern flare of the rocker.

Another sweet boy room. The accent wall is great and probably pretty doable by most DIYers who aren't afraid of straight lines. I love the dark wood floor in contrast with all of the white furniture and especially that lambskin rug on it. My cousin had one of those as a child and he adored it. So cuddlely!

I don't usually think baby room = dark, bold colors. However these next few rooms pull of using deep saturated colors quite beautifully. I think this is my favorite. With the tall white wainscot the rich blue is exquisite. This room could easily be a sports or car theme instead of nautical. Love it!

Okay how freaking cute are the bird cages? I mean really, I love it. And the zebra rug is also super awesome.

I am not crazy about the color combo in this room but I like the idea of the striped wainscot with a picture ledge. Tons of possibilities with this idea.

The tone on tone of this beautiful tree mural is just divine. I found it over at SimpliedBee in this post about boy nurseries (thanks for letting me borrow this great image)! Of course I adore it because of the sweet bird and especially the little nest in the branches. This nursery design is perfect if you don't know the gender of the baby. Simply add the pops of color after the baby arrives! Very simple and pretty.

Another nice neutral palette. I love the vintage car theme for little boys. So cute.

This shot shows that the stripes are actually the same color paint in different sheens. The matte and glossy paints reflect the light differently making the glossy bands seem darker. Very polished and pretty. I would love to see it in a lighter color also. A nice cream perhaps.

I love babies and nurseries! It is such an exciting time, preparing for the arrival of your little bundle. I can't wait until it is my turn. My problem will be deciding on one design. I think it will have a bird in it though! What do you think?
Meredelicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06812703824266108798noreply@blogger.com7
